You see this a lot with addictions...people trying to break addictions. For example, an AA sponsor...compassion. They are there to offer council and support, but they still have a tough love vibe and will show the addict, hey, don’t pull that bullshit with me. I can see through it. The empaths are usually the family members that fly to the rescue of an addict that isn’t trying to get clean until that family member is so depleted that they just cut off all contact because now that family member has to heal from always running to someone who cries wolf.
